Hi team,
My host is just moving my site to a dedicated server but has queried why every image creates 40 versions? The uploads folder is 15GB as a result, which is insane as the images are all websafe/small file sizes.
Could you shed any light on why this would be?

Hi Caro,
Is the
generatepress
folder in thewp-content
folder? If so, it should only have things like a couple of stylesheets and local fonts (if you’ve used that feature). It shouldn’t have any images at all.
What kind of images are you seeing in there?

Hi Tom
Yes — GP folder is in themes folder in wp-content.
It contains two folders: assets and inc — each containing various folders and files. But there are lots of loose .PHP, .CSS files in the main folder also. Have taken a screengrab for you to see.

I think my host was querying the uploads folder. I went into the back end yesterday and there were 182 version of just one image alone!

We wondered if there was a safe way of removing the copies of the images that weren’t in use.
I replied to this post on the forum — someone else was having a similar issue: https://generate.support/topic/unused-images-recommend-a-tool-or-plugin/

This is correct. However, there should not have any images.

Can you show us the folder path? it’s been cut off in your screenshot.
