500 Internal Server Error When Saving Elements “nonce” error + post.php Fails

  • Hello team,

I am facing a problem while editing or saving Elements like Hooks and Blocks in GeneratePress Premium.

Whenever I click on update or publish, the request to /wp-admin/post.php fails with a 500 Internal Server Error. In the browser console, I also see this error:

    {“result”:false,”error”:”nonce”}

This issue happens only with GeneratePress Elements. Normal posts and pages are working fine.

I have already tried the following:

    Disabled WP Rocket plugin

    Disabled Redis caching from wp-config

Increased memory and execution time in wp-config

Enabled debugging, but nothing useful is shown in debug.log

Used the Health Check plugin and activated only GeneratePress and its premium plugin

    Cleared Varnish and browser cache

Re-uploaded wp-admin and wp-includes folders from fresh WordPress download

Still, the issue is not solved. I checked the Network tab and the post.php request returns a 500 error without any response body.

Can you please check if there is any known problem related to nonce validation or saving Elements in the latest version?

  • Hi there,

We haven’t received similar reports from other users, so this is likely a unique issue on your site.

If you go to Tools > Site Health, are there any issues highlighted there that might be related to the problem and need addressing?

  • Hello

There is no such major issue in the Tool > Site Health

  • Is it a live site? if so, can you prepare a staging site and provide the admin login so we can see the issue in the backend and do some debugging?

    Let me know 🙂
