7 fonts in use by the browser

  • Hallo there,

sorry if this is unrelated but I’m trying to see if it can be related to the theme.
On this site (private info) inspecting the page I see that 7 fonts are loaded but basically I have 2 (Cormorand Garamond and Lora fonts and a third Alex Brush font on a couple of pages).

Are these additional fonts loaded by the theme or by GenerateBlocks somehow? I am trying to understand as this obviously reduces performance.

  • Hi there,

This issue isn’t related to the theme; the fonts are being cached by Perfmatters. If you have any concerns about this, we suggest contacting Perfmatters support for assistance.

  • Ehy Alvind,

It is cashed by Perfmatters because I am using one of their functions, which is preload. But even removing it doesn’t change anything.

Before I wrote here I actually addressed them first: https://imgur.com/jDN9FbL

It’s like I have 2 Lora fonts and 4 Cormorant Garamond fonts, i.e. for some reason they are duplicated.

I tried changing fonts (Urbanist) and the problem does not occur: https://imgur.com/48Ccj3G

  • Hi there,

can you share a link to the site, as its no longer in the private information

  • Ehy David,

of course. I added it again in private info

  • On the home page I only see 6 font requests being made.
All of which are from the Perfmattters plugin.
They look to be the various font weight variations of the fonts.

The only request I see related to the generate-google-fonts-css styles is this indie link:

    <link media="all" onload="this.media='all';this.onload=null;" rel="stylesheet" id="generate-google-fonts-css" href="//www.hoteldei7.it/wp-content/cache/wpfc-minified/7846avdg/dmh5h.css">

And thats coming from: wp-content/cache/wpfc-minified – which looks to be a file from another cache plugin .

  • Ehy Alvin and David,

    Thank you I understand now.
I simply had too many variations/weights of the same fonts and that compromised performance.

    Resolved 🙂

    Have a good day

  • Glad to hear that!
