Accessibility of tabs

  • Hi! I have a question about the accessibility of the GP/GB tabs. Using the screen reader (NVDA), I can easily focus and select both the tab buttons and the tab items. However, once I have selected a tab button, say the first of three tab buttons, I cannot focus directly on the tab item. Instead, I first have to tab through the other tab buttons and only then get to the content of the active tab.

In terms of accessibility, I assume that it would be desirable for screen reader users to activate a tab and go directly to the corresponding content. Is it perhaps even possible to achieve this already?

  • Hi there,

tricky one. an I am not sure we have a solution for that.
Does the NVDA screen reader have an Application Mode? As that may provide better functionality for focusing on the open panels.
