There are various opinions on how to add a search box or icon to the right of the primary navigation. None of these options has worked for me.
Is there a straightforward way to do this for a non-block editor site? The location is: http://www.awarenessthatheals.org
Thank you.

Hi there,
did you try the Navigation Search Modal in Customizer > Layout > Primary Navigation
-
madhavan1
Yes, David, that is the first option I tried.

Hi there,
Can you check in Appearance > Customize > General, if there’s an option there to switch from the Float System to the Flexbox system? Reference: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/switching-from-floats-to-flexbox/
If so, try switching – It would be best to backup your site though before doing this.

I made the switch to the Flexbox system, Fernando. I also confirmed that the “Enable navigation search modal” option is checked. Cleared local and CDN cache. Still no search box.

It’s there but the SVG isn’t showing. I wonder if a third-party or you have a code in your Child theme is causing it not to show
Can you try switching to the Parent theme? And, if this doesn’t work, can you try #1 here to debug: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/
It’s recommended to backup your site before proceeding with this.

The implication of changing to the Pareent theme when we are about to launch a new series makes me a bit uncomfortable. Also, after changing to the Flexbox system, the podcast page begins to indent at the 5th entry down on the page. That page is here: https://www.awarenessthatheals.org/awareness-that-heals-podcast/
Your thoughts?

Can you go to customizer > general, if you are using fonts, switch it to svg.

Thank you, Ying! That was exactly the problem. Greatly appreciated.
Last item: Any reason why, around the 5th blog post the alignment is off? That page is here: https://www.awarenessthatheals.org/awareness-that-heals-podcast/

You seem to be using a third-party plugin to Query Posts on this page. It would be best to reach out to their support regarding this alignment issue.

Okay, thank you.
-
madhavan1
Actually, it is the GeneratePress posts plugin.
-
Fernando
It’s built with Ultimate Addons for Beaver Builder upon checking.

madhavan1
Yes, you are correct. I was thinking of another site.
Thanks again for the very quick response. Always appreciated.
