I notice that the search icon (magnifying glass) on my header shows fine in Chrome, but in Firefox it just shows up as a little square. Not sure why it does that.

Can you go to customizer > general, and change the icon type from font to svg?

Only now it shows twice in Firefox & Chrome…not sure why,

Try deactivating your cache plugin and see if that fixes the issue. If it does, make sure to purge the caches when you reactivate the plugin.
