Attempt Block Recovery Error

  • Hi there,

Recently I’ve noticed all GP buttons showing the below error:

    – This block contains unexpected or invalid content – Attempt Block Recovery

    See screenshot > https://imgur.com/a/gWy7VDC

The website frontend looks fine. Just the backend shows this error when editing the page.

Note that I’m using the latest Generate Blocks (I migrated to the new block system when it was released).

    Hoping you can help?

    Thanks,
    Max

  • Hi there,

did you build the site with GenerateBlocks Pro ?
As there are data-attributes in the buttons HTML which is a Pro feature, but GB Pro isn’t installed ?

  • Hi David,

Thank you for your quick reply.

No, the site wasn’t built with GenerateBlocks Pro.

So did the recent migration to the new block system require me to upgrade to Generate Blocks Pro? I’m happy to upgrade!

    Thanks,
    Max

  • Hi David,

I went ahead and purchased GenerateBlocks Pro. However, even after installing the Pro version and then attempting a block recovery, the button remains broken after refreshing the page.

    I’m sure I’ve done something wrong…

    Looking forward to your thoughts.

    Thanks,
    Max

  • Sorry, i should have explained better.

If i check the first button on your home page, this is the link HTML ( url redacted ):

    <a class="gb-button gb-button-fdf7ccc4" href="https://yoursite.com/best-brushes-for-huskies/" data-lasso-id="3560">

In the HTML you will see the data-lasso-id="3560" attribute.

And i can see that in the editor HTML, which would cause the – This block contains unexpected or invalid content error.

I asked about GB Pro as it has the option to add attributes.

But if you didn’t have Pro then something else is adding that attribute.

Do you know where data-lasso-id="3560" is coming from ?

And if you need a refund on GB Pro let us know

  • Hi David,

    Thank you for clarifying.

I assume that attribute is being added by the Get Lasso plugin I have installed – https://getlasso.co/

So, considering Generate Blocks is working on the frontend, is it ok to ignore this error?

Considering I’m not using GB Pro (although I might in the future!), yes, please issue a refund.

    Thanks,
    Max

  • You can ignore the warning. It just means you can’t edit that block in the future, unless you disable the Lasso plugin. WordPress will just keep the HTML behind it.

Tou might want to speak to get lasso about this. It would be better if they saved their attributes only on the front end, so it doesn’t “break” the editor.

Regarding the refund – could you raise a request here using the account issue form:

    https://generateblocks.com/support/

  • Ok will do.

Actually, on second thought, I think I’ll keep Generate Blocks Pro. The blog post layouts using the query loop look cool.

  • Awesome, thank your and Welcome to GB Pro then 🙂
