Author Bio not displaying in GP PRemium

  • I am having an issue with the Author Bio regarding AIOSEO – Author SEO (E-E-A-T). I opened a ticket with AISEO and this was their reply:

    Author Bio Information

I tested your GeneratePress child theme with the AIOSEO Author SEO addon and the See Full Bio link goes back to the Author page which contains all their posts and includes their Biographical text- https://a.supportally.com/v/GXRbBk

However, if the GP Premium plugin is enabled, the Author Biographical text is no longer displayed at the top of the Author page.

You’ll want to contact the plugin developer to see if there’s a setting that needs to be enabled to show the Author Bio text at the top of the author archive page.

  • Hi there,

The author name and author bio should shown on the author archive page by default with GP Premium plugin.

Can you enable your GP premium plugin and link me to an author archive page?

  • Hello Ying.. Thank you for your response; the GP Premium plugin is enabled.. that is why they replied with this: “However, if the GP Premium plugin is enabled, the Author Biographical text is no longer displayed at the top of the Author page.”

  • It looks like you have a block element for the author archive page to dynamically pull the author bio.

However, it’s not working, as it seems to be set to pull the term meta, not author meta.

When you log in and view the author archive page, hover over the Elements menu item in the top admin bar, what elements do you see? What are they?

    Let me know 🙂

  • It will be a little bit complicated, try follow the steps below:

    1. Go to appearance > elements, edit the archive template element.

    2. In the element, add the author archives to the Exlude list:

    3. Copy all content of this element by clicking the 3 dots icon on the top right, then clicking the copy all blocks option: https://app.screencast.com/hmdJGOiHrZbFZ

    4. Go to appearance > elements, create a new block element – loop template and paste the content there.

    5. Set the new element’s location to author archives:https://app.screencast.com/QZAat1l8ecmuu

    6. Select the Dynamic content block, and set type to Author description:

Let me know if this helps!

  • I am sorry Ying.. I am afraid you are dealing with a complete amateur here.. I do not see what you are referring to here.. This is what I see:

  • You need to click the Block tab on the top right to see the block settings, you are seeing the Element setting in your screenshot:

  • Ok.. done, but I am still having issues..

  • Hi there

can you share a link to an Author page on your site ?

  • Sure .. I noticed now that since I made the change to the Author Description the bio is now appearing at the top of the page as it should, but there is no picture of the author and the bio appears without paragraph divisions, looks ver unprofessional..

  • the bio appears without paragraph divisions, looks ver unprofessional..

WordPress automatically strips tags from the author bio for security reasons, it’s not something the theme controls, unfortunately.

there is no picture of the author

There isn’t an image block in your element, so this is expected behaviour.

If you want to add author images, you can use a dynamic image block, and select author avatar as the type.

I recorded a small clip for your reference: https://app.screencast.com/6DTCxfd194cMg

  • Great, I think I got it.. You provide great instructions; however, It is still not showing up correctly I chose image size to 200 and make image rounded.. Also, what is that ipsumlorem supposed to be replaced with?

  • however, It is still not showing up correctly I chose image size to 200 and make image rounded

Does the author has an avatar set up in his/her user profile? https://app.screencast.com/vpHOFyAUv7ovD

And you also need to check if show avatar option is ticked at settings > discussion: https://app.screencast.com/mNiczfB3P5GWZ

Also, what is that ipsumlorem supposed to be replaced with?

Not sure what this mean, can you explain some more?

  • Hi Ying.. Thank you for your patience..

Yes.. show avatar is on and the author does have an image..When I click on Archive elements I see the ipsomlorem..

  • When I click on Archive elements I see the ipsomlorem..

Oh you mean the placeholder for the author bio in the element?

If so, it’s just a placeholder, the block can not render author bio in the editor.

For the avatar not showing issue, can you provide an admin login for me to check the backend?
