bbpress in a GB Pro Tabs block

  • Hi,
I wonder if you can help me with this one:

For a client we are trying to show the client’s BBPress Fora inside a tabbed view.

The client’s users are divided into smaller usergroups and each group has it’s own BBPress SubForum with Group-specific Topics for that sub-forum.

I have managed to get the Sub Forum itself inside a Tab, but all Topic links break the Tabbed View and opens on a new page – I guess it’s the way BBPress works.

Is it possible to get the Topics view to stay inside the Tab?

    Thank you.

    BW Peter

PS: I can provide a login for the client’s site. Just let me know. Thanks again.

  • Hi Peter,

Can you share the page URL where we can see this layout implemented?

  • Hi Alvind,

Thank you for your quick reply – great!

Since it’s a members only site, I am going to provide you with a temporary Admin access.

Please note that this is a production site. 🙂

I have enclosed a link in the Private Information section.

    Thanks again.

  • Hello, thanks for the access.

I can see the Topics view inside the tab, am I missing something? Please, check the screenshot in the private section.

  • Hi,

What I mean is that when you click on a Topic, the Topic opens on a new page outside of the Tabs.

We would like the whole thing to take place inside the Tabs.

  • Hi Peter,

Thanks for the clarification — I can see what you mean now.

Unfortunately this isn’t something we’re able to achieve with the Tabs block alone. BBPress navigates via full WordPress page loads, so when a user clicks a topic link, the browser loads a new page — that’s just how BBPress works under the hood. The Tabs block has no way to intercept those navigations and reload the content within the active tab panel.

To make this work the way you’re describing, you’d need custom JavaScript to intercept link clicks inside the tab, fetch the target page via AJAX, extract the relevant BBPress content, and inject it back into the panel — while also handling browser history correctly. That’s beyond what we can support here.

  • Hi George,

I understand – thank you for the clarification.

  • Ok, no problem!
