BG Image Opacity GB v2.4

  • Hi Team –
I’m coming up to speed on GB v2.x after a long time away. Picking up most things pretty well.

I’m having difficulty with handling background image opacity as we did in GB 1.7-9. I’ve read through a ticket Ticket 182837 and tried to follow Ying’s instructions – but somewhere I missed something. I’ve included a test page to work with and the creds are in the priv info. Really appreciate the help.

  • Updated priv info.

  • Hi David,

Which image are you referring to?

    Let me know 🙂

  • Hi Ying –
Three images are on the page.

First container is from GB v1.7 – and is the desired effect I’m trying to achieve.
Second container is from GB v2.4 – my best effort at invoking a psuedo class to handle opacity and make it match the first container.
Third container is where I’d like you to do it the correct way if you would please.
    Thanks 🙂

  • Hi David,

I’ve replicated the first container layout in the third container.

Please review the block configuration and let me know if you have any questions about it 🙂

  • Thanks SO MUCH Alvind!!!

I see the biggest issue I had is that I instantiated the bg image on the main selector and not the pseudo selector!! That makes a lot of sense now as I’m styling the image with the pseudo selector so the image has to belong to that selector – at least that’s the way I can comprehend it. A couple other tweeks and I got it!!!

Went through now, with a way better understanding of pseudo classes and created a set of classes that handle the position and content attributes. Now I can handle a bg image with the pseudo selector on the element by grabbing an image, applying the effects, and using a single class that sets up everything consistently.

This was really helpful and I appreciate your efforts!!!

  • You’re welcome, glad to be of help! 🙂
