Using GP theme and choosing a core Button block gives you two style options: outline and fill. Fill seems to work fine, but outline doesn’t seem to have the intended effect. It looks no different to a fill button.
Do you not define any styles for is-style-outline?

Hi there,
We’re not interfering with the styling of core blocks. Another plugin might be overriding the styling of the core Button block.

We’re having this exact issue on one of our new sites. It only started a few weeks ago. When we created the site in June it was fine – both fill and outline settings were working. Then sometime in July the outline setting stopped working and it’s now exactly like the fill setting. Tried disabling every other plugin, then purging cache at hosting site. No change.

Thanks Leo – is there a way to do this without posting all details on a public forum?

If you open a new topic as the topic starter, you will see a private info field, you can enter the site details there, it will only be seen by the support team.
But for the issue description, please use the regular topic content area, don’t add it to the private info field.

I disabled all other plugins on my staging site and still have the same issue. A link in the hidden section will show you.

Can you select a transparent color as the outlined button’s background color?

I have done that now. Take a look. Seems to work on hover correctly. But not in the normal state. The Border doesn’t show.

Did you select a text color for the button?

Ahh, ok, I see what’s going on here.
Because the text color defaults to white in Generatepress for all buttons, and it seems to use the same color for text and border, you can’t see the outline unless you manually choose a text color.
I have now switched the theme to the WP default 2024 theme and left background color and text color unselected. The behavior there is much better because the default text and border color are black when you choose the outline style but white when you choose the fill style.
Can you update Generatepress to provide the same functionality?

You can remove the button style from the customizer, or use GB’s button block.

“You can remove the button style from the customizer” what does this mean?
I’m not using GB’s button block.

Hi there,
“You can remove the button style from the customizer” what does this mean?
You can reset the GeneratePress default button colors by navigating to Customize > Colors > Button and adjusting the settings there.

Thank you for the clear explanation.
You should update the defaults in a future version of GP, though. This is confusing.
