Hi,
I want my category page for “where to stay in” to look like this page. With sections and hyperlinks.
Currently, I don’t see where to go to edit all this for category. I only have access to category description. Thanks
-
Hi there,
Do you mean you want to show custom content instead of posts in the category archives?

Hi,
For this page only exceptionally, yes, I would like to show custom content like the page below and not the generic category page layout. -
Hi there,
WordPress doesn’t give a visual editor for category pages by default. By design, they only show the archive loop and description.
If you’d like a custom layout for just one category, go to Appearance → Elements → Add New → Block Element.
- Location: set it to display on that category archive only.
- Inside the block, you can build your custom sections and hyperlinks using GenerateBlocks Pro.
This way, you can replace or add to the default loop.
Guide: Block Elements
If you’d rather keep the posts but add custom sections above, set the Element’s hook to
before_main_contentso your layout shows before the archive posts. -

Thanks for your response.
I have added element: “Category Hotels” to replace the “Where to Stay in…” Category Page. When I click on “Where to Stay in…” menu item it doesn’t get replaced by the Category Hotels element I set. -
Hi there,
I don’t see any Element showing on that page yet. Could you check:
- In your Category Hotels Element, is Element Type set to Loop Template (not Hook)?
- Under Display Rules, did you target exactly that category archive (e.g. “Where to Stay in”)?
Guide: Block Element – Loop Template
Let me know what you find.

Hello,
It’s set to loop and correct location. Not seeing it update. Thanks
-
Hi there,
I checked your site and can see the 2 posts in the where-to-stay-in-lyon category showing up (Screenshot).
When I add
?1to the query string, they also display. I tested with a Query Loop block as well, and it’s working there too.Could you please try clearing your site cache and temporarily disabling the caching plugin to see if that helps?

Thanks. I want this stuff to appear above inside the top main grey box with “where to stay” not after below. I made it hook before-main-content, but it’s no showing above.

Hi there,
Can you confirm if you’re editing the Category Hotels Element for this? If you’ve made some recent changes there, please let us know so we can take a closer look and help adjust the placement.

Yes I am editing the Category Hotels Element. I have not finalized it yet. I just created 3 containers with text to see if the layout will work where I want it (in the grey box).
Thanks

Hi there,
Ok, thanks for confirming. Please let us know once you’ve finalised the Element so we can take a closer look and help with the placement in the grey box.
