Category Menu Doesn’t Link to Category Posts

  • I’ve updated my menu and now none of my menu items link to categories. Any ideas what’s preventing this from working like it used to?

  • You are using a block element – loop template, in the element, select the query loop block, and check if the Inherit query from template option is enabled.

    if not, enable it.

  • When I toggle that, my menus work but my main page is not following my element template.

  • Your homepage is a static page; does it have the same loop template as well?

If so, exclude it from your loop template.

  • I believe I’ve set everything right.

    Static Page
    Homepage: Blog
    Posts page: Posts

Block Loop Template Location: Page – Blog
    Exclude: Front Page

Inherit query from template. Now homepage is just a comment form

Menu items work (but need to fix pagination at bottom).

Any ideas on where the hiccup is?

  • Issue is still on-going. Any advice?

  • Hi there,

Try changing the location for the Block Loop Template to All Archives.

  • I’ve made that change and homepage still displays only a comment form in the main area

  • Your homepage is set to a static page, do you have any content on the page?

Or do you want the homepage to display all your posts?

If so, go to dashboard > settings > reading, and set Your homepage display to Your latest posts.

  • Got it! Thanks so much!

  • You are welcome   🙂
