Hi,
I need help with categories.
I am building a blog section on this site. https://myponcecleaningservice.com/
The blog is set correctly. https://myponcecleaningservice.com/blog/ Showing the post.
When I try to visualize the category https://myponcecleaningservice.com/blog/cleaning-tips/ it will show broken.
I have placed a (.) in the permalinks for the category to be called blog. So I get the URL structure set.
I have two elements in place, the same that comes with the Clinic template from the library, I haven’t changed any of them and their locations.
I would like for the category cleaning to show as the blog page. That is all. How would I do this?
Thank you!

Hi there,
If I am understanding this correctly, you want the Cleaning category archive to have the same layout as the blog page. Is that correct?

Yes.

Follow these steps:
Create a new Block Element and add the GB Query Loop block.
In the Element settings on the right side, set the Element Type to Loop Template.
Then go to Block settings and activate the ‘Inherit query from template’ option.
Under Display Rules > Location, choose ‘Post Category Archive’ -> ‘All archive’.

I dont see this part: Then go to Block settings and activate the ‘Inherit query from template’ option
I made the Element, added the loop block, and set it as Loop Template.
But dont see the next step or an option for it.
Also, when I try to select the location Post category > only option is “All categories”
And is not showing on the category, still 404.
Thanks!

Then go to Block settings and activate the ‘Inherit query from template’ option
Select the query loop block, you will see this option in the block settings.
https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/query-loop-overview/#query-parametersAlso, when I try to select the location Post category > only option is “All categories”
Check Alvind’s reply carefully, he said ” ‘Post Category Archive’ -> ‘All categories”, do you see the difference?
Let me know 🙂

Hi,
Thank you.
Please see the image I am sharing here to see what I mean: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11_i3r8GzAHHAGKk0xd9fQoDS00BFujxs/view?usp=sharing
These are the elements I have: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KTn1W-xh–MfrSRDnL_ZZqoj8_xJ25Ua/view
Thank you!

If you want this element to apply only to the ‘Cleaning Tips’ category, you can choose that.
I cannot open the second screenshot, it says page not found.

I try to apply it for the:
Location, choose ‘Post Category Archive’ -> ‘All archive’.
But it is not available as I mentioned before.
Here is the link for all the elements I have:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KTn1W-xh–MfrSRDnL_ZZqoj8_xJ25Ua/view
Thanks

But it is not available as I mentioned before.
Are you saying that the option is not available in the Display rules?
The screenshot isn’t working for me either.

Please Try this: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/18o9_EJLhTcqxd4QxxBpkxgj6jLjydPgP?usp=sharing
Are you saying that the option is not available in the Display rules?
As you can see in the image, those three options are available there.

Hi there,
I have placed a (.) in the permalinks for the category to be called blog. So I get the URL structure set.
remove that
.
as that will break many of the standard features of WordPress.
If you need to change the Permalink structure then use a SEO plugin to handle that.Fix that then revisit the issue.

Hi,
by taking the (.) gave me this: https://myponcecleaningservice.com/category/cleaning-tips/
It still is not what I am looking for, since I do want to change the /category/ to blog.
Thanks!

Alvind
Edit the ‘Blog posts template’ element and check the Location settings. What location is set there?
-
Backros
Here:
Category Block – Loop Template Post Category Archive
Category Loop Block – Loop Template Post Category Archive: Cleaning Tips
Should I put the (.) back in the Permalink?
Thanks!
-
What are you trying to achieve?
If you want to modify the permalink for the category archives, we can not help with that, as GP does not manage permalinks.
As David suggested, use an SEO plugin to handle the permalinks.
