Category Page Loading Very Slowly for Large Post Count (Grid Script Issue)

  • Hi there,

I’m experiencing a performance issue on my website related to a specific category page.

When I try to open the Certificates category page (which is a parent category), it takes a long time to load. This category contains around 300 posts and has several subcategories. However, this specific category — which has the highest number of posts — loads significantly slower than the others.

Here is the link to the page: https://wordpress-1303901-5233669.cloudwaysapps.com/gl-type/certificates/

I’ve already added pagination, so only 20–25 posts are displayed per page. Other categories with fewer posts load quickly, but this one takes a noticeably long time to render.

We also contacted our hosting provider, and they checked everything on their end. They pointed out that the issue seems to be related to the grid container/script, which is taking a long time to load this category page.

Could you please help us identify a solution or optimization to improve the load time for this page?

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

I’m not able to load the page at all until the timeout.

So I can not see what the structure is used on the page, however, I don’t agree with your host’s opinion.
The grid container should only use CSS. The CSS file is very small, it will NOT cause the page to not or slow load.

If you try setting posts per page to a smaller value like 10, does it help?

    Let me know 🙂

  • Alright Ying,

Thank you so much for your assistance! My issue has been resolved.

  • Glad to hear that 🙂
