Changes to an element are not always saved

  • I created a GP element of type “Content Template” and excluded individual pages from it.

Now I want to make changes and I do the following
    1) Click on edit
    2) Make the changes (e.g. delete an exclusion)
    3) Save the changes
    4) Switch to the list of GP elements

Changes are not always present – what am I doing wrong?

  • Hi Andreas,

To clarify, do the changes save on the backend but not on the frontend? Or, do they not save on the backend as well?

  • They dont save on the backend…

  • That seems like a Server or Database issue. Can you go to Tools > Site Health and check if there are any issues that need to be handled?

Can you also go to Tools > Site Health > Info > Server, and check if your Server settings are enough for a website? Here’s an example of server allocations that would be good:

    upload_max_filesize (256M)
    max_input_time (300)
    memory_limit (256M)
    max_execution_time (300)
    post_max_size (512M)
  • Hi Fernando,

    there are three recommended improvements:
You should remove inactive plugins / Security
Your site is set to log errors to a potentially public file / Security
You should use a persistent object cache / Performance

    And these are the Serveroptions
    Server architecture Linux 4.19.0-22-amd64 x86_64
    Web server Apache
PHP version 8.0.22 (Supports 64bit values)
    PHP SAPI fpm-fcgi
    PHP max input variables 5000
    PHP time limit 300
    PHP memory limit 256M
    Max input time -1
    Upload max filesize 256M
    PHP post max size 256M
    cURL version 7.64.0 OpenSSL/1.1.1n
    Is SUHOSIN installed? No
Is the Imagick library available? Yes
    Are pretty permalinks supported? Yes
.htaccess rules Custom rules have been added to your .htaccess file.

  • Hi there,

just to cover; if you create a new element, and you make changes to it.
What happens when you Publish the element ? Does the editor show its been published ?

  • Yes – the status shows, that the element is published …

sometimes changes of “type / location / exclusion /users” are not saved – When I save the changes I don’t get any errors. I have already deactivated or uninstalled several plugins.

Is there a log file that I can send – I have already turned on logging for WordPress

  • Is it only the “type / location / exclusion /users” that does not save ?

  • Hi David,
I suspect the problems are due to the environment in my office – now I’m at home and everything works fine.

Something has probably been changed in the settings which is causing these problems.

You can now close the ticket – thank you for your help!

    best regards

  • Glad to hear you found the issue.
