Child Theme

  • Chinmay patil

    Hi guys,

I was advised to use a child theme to keep my custom css & shortcodes safe from theme updates. So I did that. But I see many issues with it & upon doing a bit of research I have some doubts.

    1. Does creating a child theme stop me, or affect in any kind, the pro features of GP theme & generateblocks?

    2. If I only add shortcodes & custom/additional CSS to my file, will creating a child theme be unnecessary?

  • Hi there,

    1. No

    2. What do you mean by adding shortcodes? Like using shortcodes in content?

yes. Shortcodes you get from plugins like rankmath and all. I also have Custom HTML codes added in some places. For instance on this page:https://thatsinindia.com/get-in-touch/ I have a HTML code for phone and address.

  • Hi there,

you don’t need a child theme if you just want to add some codes to the site.

CSS you can add to the Customizer > Additional CSS
PHP Snippets you can add using a plugin like Code Snippets
