Customize Query Loop Layout

  • Hi, when I add a Query Loop, I find inside:
    -> Grid (locked)
    –> Container: Post Template (locked)
    —> Heading: Post title
    —> Heading: Post date

I don’t see any options for the blocks as usual. How can I customize the blocks inside the query loop?

https://docs.generateblocks.com/article/query-loop-overview/ didn’t say anything about it.

Any hint or link to a tutorial welcome!

    Regards,
    André

  • Hi André,

Which block and what options are you referring to?

    Let me know!

  • Hi Ying, I want to simply change the Heading block inside the post template:

    blocks inside loop query

I cannot access the Heading configuration. Is the “post template” maybe defined somewhere else?

  • here comes the screenshot ..

    blocks inside post template

  • You should be able to access all settings, it’s the same as a headline block that is not in a Query loop block.

What settings are you not able to access?

    Let me know!

  • I see, we have the same expectation 😉

On a clean site (only GeneratePress Pro and GenerateBlock Pro install) everything works fine:
    fresh site no problem

On the site with unexpected behaviour a new page with only the Query Loop Block inserted looks like this:
    no results, no config

If you have any hint on what could hinder the configuration to show up – very welcome.

I’ll dive into debugging conflicts with all the components installed.

  • Hi ab7,

Yes, checking for conflicts first is the best approach.

    Specifically, try #1 here: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/debugging-tips/

  • And here we go, it’s even more trivial than I suspected it to be:

Posts were set on “draft”, events (TheEventsCalender, the post type I originally wanted to query for ..) were set to “private”. Therefore no results show up, nothing is there to apply changes in configuration to and the options don’t show up. When I change the status of posts/events to “published”, everything works fine and as expected.

    Lesson learned.

    Thanks for your support!

    André

  • I see. Glad you found the cause! You’re welcome, Andre!
