Date archive (day) shows all posts instead of just the ones of that day

  • For a website I need to use the default WordPress calendar widget. In that calendar each day that has posts links to that specific day and should display a date archive (day) of posts of only that specific day. The permalink is https://domainname.com/2023/06/05/ (website is still under construction)>

Instead of showing the posts of that day, the page always shows all posts, no matter what day or month. I haven’t used this widget the last 10 years 😉 so I’m not sure where the error lies. I created an archive loop that shows 6 posts and condition is Date Archive.

Am I overlooking something (very obvious) ?

  • Hi there,

As this is a WP core widget, GP doesn’t have control over it.

I just tested the widget on my site and it works normaly.

I would recommend disabling all your plugins to eliminate conflicts with other plugins, if the issue’s fixed, turn the plugin on one at a time to see which one is causing the issue.

If you are using a child theme, switch back to the parent GP theme to eliminate conflicts from custom functions.

  • Hello Ying,

I’m not sure. I deactivated all plugins and the calendar indeed works correct then. But it also works correct when just deactivating the Element I created to show my date archives, so there is something wrong in my Element settings.

The Element I called Date loop has a standard Query loop that shows posts. The location I set to Date Archives. But instead of showing just the posts of a specific day (https://domainname.com/2023/06/05/), it shows all posts.

  • Hi there,

the Query Loop block you have in your element, does it have any parameters set ?

  • Hi David, At the moment there are no parameters set. One time I had a few set, like the order (ASC) and orderby Date, but that had the same result. I don’t see any other parameters that could make a difference.

  • Aaaaaah…. Of course…. stupid me, I know I read this and totally forgot. Thanks! Now it works :).

  • You’re welcome!
