desktop, tablet and mobile settings override each other

  • Hello,

When editing a page directly using block settings, the desktop, tablet and mobile settings override each other. Only one setting is valid at any time. If the site looks great to desktop, when I go to change a mobile value such as padding, the padding changes for desktop too, for example.

    Am I missing something?

  • Hi there,

In the admin dashboard, go to GenerateBlocks > Settings. Is Sync Responsive Previews option activated?

  • Hi Alvind,

Thank you so much for your reply!

Yes, Sync Responsive Previews is activated. I have tried to sort this out myself for quite some time but can’t work it out….

  • That’s unusual. Could you provide a temporary admin login for your site so we can take a closer look?

  • Hi Alvind,

Thank you for helping. It’s a staging site. The login details have been provided privately.

  • Hi there,

can you confirm the logins and passwords ? As I cannot get past the initial folder password.

  • Hi David,

As it’s a staging site, you must need to login through our web host first, then the site. I will send you logins privately to [email protected]
    Thank you again for helping.

  • Could you ask your host to temporarily disable the staging site authentication? We want to avoid logging into the web host, so it would be great if they could take care of that.

  • Thanks Alvind and David!

The only way to be able to get in to the staging site is through the web host.
So, I have disabled security on the staging site and have setup a collaborator on the webhost for you. An email has been sent with login details.

I really appreciate all of your time and assistance with this.

  • Hi Meg,

    I saw your emails.
Are you able to just create a fake login and and share the login with the site admin URL in the Private Information field below ?

  • Hi David,

I have provided login below privately for you. Sorry for the hassle thus far.

  • No apologies necessary – we got there 🙂
So I think the issue is with the blocks you’re using.

I created a draft page titled: GP Support Draft

On that page is a GenerateBlocks Headline block. Which is fully responsive.
All the GB icons are responsive and have blue icons. For reference see here:

    https://app.screencast.com/TG3L4frBNtFpg

Whereas the core paragraph block and core blocks in general have no reponsive controls.

    So ideally you should:

    1. use the Themes Customizer > Typography to set your site wide font sizing, and there responsive sizes. GP provides Desktop, Table and Mobile options.

    2. in the editor where you need to break from the themes typography use a GenerateBlock where you have those controls.

IF I have misunderstood then let me know.

  • Hi David,

Thank you so much for your help.

However, the responsive customiser controls still override each other.

    For example, I go to:
Customiser –>typography–>body. When I make a change to the desktop font size and line height etc, these settings are also set for tablet and mobile. Desktop device setting overrides the tablet and mobile settings. And vice versa.

    Am I missing something?

  • Just to confirm, did you set specific values for the tablet and mobile breakpoints as well? Because if they weren’t set, they will inherit the values set for the desktop.

  • Hi Alvind,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Yes I have tried that -whatever values are entered into one device appears in all of them. It is super annoying and I can’t find a fix for it. David’s login to access the staging site is still active in case you would like to quickly see it for yourself. To be clear, I am referring to typography values in the customiser.

I am hoping you will be able to help.

    Thank you again for persisting.

  • I was trying to check the backend, but I can’t access the login page due to site restrictions.
