Hi GenerateSupport,
I have a critical bug where saving GeneratePress Elements corrupts all content.
AFFECTED SITE: https://www.typo3werk.com
THE PROBLEM:
– Click “Update” on ANY Element (even without changes) → content breaks
– All headlines become “[object Object]”
– Embedded content (Google Maps iFrames) disappears completely
– Duplicating Elements causes same corruptionALREADY TRIED:
– Deactivated all plugins except GP Premium
– Cleared all caches
– Different browsers + Incognito mode
– Regenerated permalinks
– WP_DEBUG enabled – no errorsWe ran some tests too:
Test 1: Saving without changes (Heilbronn page):
1. Open an existing element that works correctly on the front end.
2. Click ‘Update/Save’ without making any changes.
3. RESULT:
All headlines become “[object Object]”.
– The Google Maps iFrame is completely removed.
– The content is corrupted.Test 2: Duplicate existing element (Heidelberg page).
1. Duplicate a working element.
2. RESULTS: Same corruption as above.
– Headlines show “[object Object]”.
– Embedded content (iFrames and maps) disappears. -
Hi there,
When you say element, are you referring to the GP elements at Appearance > elements?
If so, can you share the admin login to a staging site and point us to the element in question?

Hi Ying,
You already have admin login access to this website.
You can find it in this topic: https://generate.support/topic/widerherstellung-versuchen-error/
Best regards

Hi @econsor,
I tried to replicate the issue by following your test method on the Heilbronn page, but I wasn’t able to reproduce the same error.
If you’re referring to the Elements applied to that page, I can only see three: the Layout Element and two Hook Elements.
Let me know if I’m missing something or if there’s another Element or setting involved.

Hi Alvind,
My apologies, I think I expressed myself incorrectly. By the Heilbronn page, I meant the blocks. However, I spoke with one of my colleagues and he said he didn’t do anything to the page. He just went to the editor, clicked save, and this happened:
All the headlines became “[object Object]”.
The Google Maps iFrame has been completely removed.
The content is corrupted. -
I opened the page editor of the Heilbronn page, clicked save, but I didn’t see the issue.
Here’s a screen record:

Hi Ying,
That’s strange. Perhaps it was only visible to my co-worker. Could you take a look at the headlines that say “[object Object]”?
We’re currently encountering this problem on the ‘Standort’ pages. Please take a look at them and let me know if you can offer a solution.

Alvind
I’ve gone through all the pages under the Standort section, but I’m not able to find any headlines showing the [object Object] issue.
Could you link to a specific page where you can confirm the problem is occurring so we can check it directly?
If possible, a screenshot of how it appears on your end would also be very helpful.

Hi Alvind,
Thank you for your response – that’s very strange!
Here is a screenshot from my end: https://imgur.com/gallery/typo3-YpsVZ7k

It looks like something, or someone, has changed the headline block’s HTML structure, as you can see there are multiple
gb-icon,gb-headline-textin one single h2 headline block, you can compare it to the h3 which has the defualt and correct html.
https://app.screencast.com/Cftfbg2CLEvHdWhen you add the H2 headline block, did you add a headline block first, then copy the content from another headline block and pasted into this new headline block? If so, you might’ve pasted the HTML into a new headline block.
I tried to create a brand new headline block, and saved it, it behaves normaly. Please check:

Hi Ying,
Thanks for looking into this. My colleague ran more tests and found something interesting.
You asked if we copied content between headline blocks. We tested three ways:
–> Copied a working headline into an existing block
–> Copied a working headline into a new empty block
–> Built a completely new headline without any copyingAll three failed the same way.
Here’s what happens on the Stuttgart page:
We tried to add the decorative line to match the working Heidelberg page. Before we hit save, the line shows up perfectly in the editor. After saving and reloading, the line is gone. The HTML structure looks correct now (https://imgur.com/a/r0CHzMG), but the styling doesn’t stick. This happens even when we build headlines from scratch. No copying involved at all.
Could this be a styling save issue instead of an HTML problem? The editor preview works fine, but something gets lost when we save.
What do you think we should try next?
Best regards

Can you link me to the page in question?

Your screenshot is too small, I can not see the details clearly, unfortunately.
Can you link me to the page so I can have a try? -

I can see the issue on my end now, but I’m not entirely sure what’s causing it.
Would it be possible to do some troubleshooting on the site, such as temporarily deactivating plugins to check for conflicts? If that’s not possible, providing a staging site would be ideal so we can investigate further.
Also, do you have any custom functions added to your child theme’s
functions.phpfile? The Theme File Editor menu is hidden, so I’m not able to check that directly. -

Hi Alvind,
I’m so glad you found it!
Would you be able to do some troubleshooting on the site? For example, you could temporarily deactivate plugins to check for conflicts.
Yes, you can. Before doing so, please back up the site with Updraft without uploads, just to be safe.
The Theme File Editor menu is hidden.
This was a setting from Solid Security. I fix it for you.
I look forward to your results!

Yes, you can. Before doing so, please back up the site with Updraft without uploads, just to be safe.
Please do so, and let us know when it’s backed up.
Or can you create a staging site for us to do the testing?
