Usually, the excerpt automatically pulls from the contents, but if the content is in the Generatepress container blocks it seems to be ignoring it. This happens using both the paid-for and the free Generateblocks plugin on several of our sites.
I did find this wordpress ticket, suggesting there is or was a known issue, but its a few years old. I would’ve thought it would’ve been fixed by now.
I am wondering if you perhaps had a workaround for the problem or suggestion for those with too many posts for manual excerpts.

I just tested it on a clean install and it seems the bug has already been fixed.
Can you try disabling all plugins except GB and GP Premium to test?

I just tested 2 sites, one free blocks and the other paid.
One of them, the one with The Events Calendar, is where we first noticed it. Running the health check and troubleshooter plugin and disabling all the other plugins (except the Calendar which was using the excerpt and Generatepress) doesn’t help. (We did consult The Events Calendar people and they told us to ask you – they did do some testing.)The other site is using premium and the place I’m not seeing an excerpt is using the Query Loop (Generatepress). Running the health check and troubleshooter plugin here to disable all else doesn’t seem to fix the issue though. It says no Post Excerpt on the edit page side.

Nothing at all shows on the front end for an excerpt if the content is entirely in the Generateblock containers and a manual excerpt is not added. I don’t want to use manual excerpts, I prefer them pulled automatically.

Can you make sure WordPress, GeneratePress and GP premium are all up to date?
And can you provide an admin login to one of the site that the expert doesn’t work?

Ok. Please be aware this is a live site. Here is a special link to a test feed page I set up. I duplicated some posts with the issue and put them in a special category so we have some to test without affecting the other areas. I included both the Generatepress Query loop and the default query loop on it.

Ah I see, your content is deep in a Grid block.
The content inside a Grid block can not be pulled as the excerpt at this moment, but content directly inside a container block should be.

We can’t give a Yes or No answer on this , as the issue is related to a limit that WordPress imposes when it comes to parsing nested blocks for an excerpt. If we can find a stable way to get passed it , we will, but ultimately its WP thats in control here.
