export Elements

  • Hi there,

How do we export Elements and import that whenever we need to use it?

  • Hi there,

Elements are stored as a custom post type, so you can use any plugin that supports exporting/importing custom post types.

Here’s one option you can consider:

  • thanks. Now I can import/export Elements.

However, the position of Elements was moved after importing.
    For example:
In the old website, I set container width=1400px through customize/layout/container.
And then, in the Element/container, I found “auto” was set to Margin left and right to keep the container in the middle of the page.

    Is there anything I missed?

Please advise, How do I set “container width = 1400px” and “in the middle of page” whenever I would need to use it in Element?

Should this layout settings come with import/export Element?

  • Updates.

    Hello,

I’m using the WP Import Export Lite plugin and I’ve noticed an issue. When I import my content to a new site, the background colors of my Elements aren’t being transferred.

Both the source and destination sites have the same color settings. Could you please tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?

  • Is the background color set using Global Styles? If so, you’ll need to export the Global Styles as well, since they aren’t included when exporting/importing Elements. If an Element relies on a Global Style, that style must be migrated separately.

  • Is the background color set using Global Styles? => both sites (source and destination) has the same typography and color settings.
Would you please tell me how to check it?( After importing, the background color was set to “clear”, no color at all)
Besides, the layout position also changed.

  • I tried to replicate the issue you described, but I couldn’t. All element background colors were imported correctly — I didn’t run into any problem with the background color being unset.

However, I didn’t use the same plugin you did. I used the native Import/Export tool under the Tools section in the admin menu. This might be an issue with the plugin you’re using for exporting and importing elements.

  • Just tried your steps, I also can import/export now with the native tool.
    thanks very much.

One more quesiton, what was the “Global Styles” actually is? Is it with GP or GB?

  • Hi there,

Global Styles is a GenerateBlocks Pro feature

The documentation for it can be seen here:
