Fatal Error Memory Exhausted when using Advanced Excerpt plugin

  • Hello,
I installed the Advanced Excerpt plugin ( to be able to use html in excerpts.

After activating it, I started getting the following error when trying to edit pages containing query loops with excerpts:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 536870912 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12288 bytes) in /home/*****/*************/wp-content/plugins/generateblocks-pro/includes/defaults.php on line 60

The error takes place just after clicking on “Edit” from the “Pages” section.

    Thank you

  • Hi there,

I activated the same plugin and did not encounter this issue in on a page with multiple query loop blocks.

Does the issue occur with all plugins disabled except for GenerateBlocks and Advanced Excerpt?

Can you try increasing the PHP memory?

  • Hello,
yes, it also happens when all plugins are disable.

Tried to increase memory to 1024M but I still get the error.
    Thank you

  • WP version is 6.5.5

  • yes, it also happens when all plugins are disable.

Do you mean you still see the error when the GenerateBlocks plugin is disabled?

  • No, I still get the error when all plugins are disabled except for GB, GB Premium and Advanced Excerpt.

I also tried to revert to Twenty Twenty Four Theme.
    Thank you

  • Have you successfully edited an excerpt after installing the plugin?

Or the error shows as soon as you want to edit a page with query loop?

  • Yes, I successfully editet an excerpt after installing the plugin.

It happens as soon as I want to edit a page with query loop, but only if the page contains the “Excerpt” block in the query loop structure.

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

it’s an issue with the Advanced Excerpt plugin being used inside Blocks within a query loop.
See here for the plugins author reply regarding that:

  • Ok, I’ll solve in another way for the moment.
    Thank you

  • You’re welcome
