My favicon isn’t showing up next to my site in Google search even though I put it in in the customizer. Is there somewhere else I need to put it in to get it to show up? Thanks!

Hi there,
The favicon you set in the Customizer (Appearance > Customize > Site Identity) is the correct place to add it for your site. That part is all set.
However, how your site appears in Google search results is controlled entirely by Google. It can take some time for Google to crawl and display your favicon — this isn’t something that happens instantly, and there’s no additional setting needed on the GeneratePress side.
A few things to keep in mind:
1. WordPress recommends uploading a Site Icon that is 512×512px — it automatically generates the smaller sizes needed from that. So if you’ve uploaded a 512×512 image, you’re good on that front.
2. It can take days or even weeks for Google to pick up and display a new or updated favicon in search results.
3. You can use Google Search Console to inspect your site URL and check whether Google can see your favicon.
So there’s nothing else you need to do on the WordPress/GeneratePress side — it’s just a matter of waiting for Google to update on their end.

I did want to say sometimes the icon in the top left corner of my WordPress page says “Site Icon” in place of the actual icon. Does that mean anything?

That “Site Icon” text you’re seeing is just the label for the setting in the Customizer — it’s not indicating a problem. It’s the name of the field, not a placeholder for your icon.
If your favicon is showing correctly when you view your site in a browser tab, then everything is working as expected. Could you confirm whether you see your actual icon in the browser tab when visiting your site?
