Feed and Featured items are not clickable for Newsroom

  • Hi,

In newsroom theme I cannot click the whole feed items (when I click on the picture it does not redirect) but only click on the article name to go to the article.

How can I make the whole thing clickable?

  • Hi there,

You can select the Query Loop Post Template container, then navigate to the Dynamic Data block settings. Under Link Source, select Single Post: https://cln.sh/9w3ts1p0.

However, the downside of this method is that the category term link will no longer be clickable.

  • Hello Alvind,

I couldn’t find the WordPress Admin Panel page that displays this screen https://cln.sh/9w3ts1p0
Can you tell me how to get to that page?

    Thank you

  • It is under Appearance > Elements, the element name is Home Post Grid.

  • I have found the page you mentioned but sadly none of the Post Template has “Link Source” option under Dynamic Data: https://ibb.co/GvdLvqJP

    Am I doing something wrong?

  • Do you have GB Pro? The link source option for GB container is only available if GB Pro plugin is installed and activated.

    Let me know 🙂

  • I have purched GP Premium from your website, if that’s what you are asking?

  • No, I mean GenerateBlocks Pro plugin.

If you don’t have it, it is not possible to add a container link, as both :before and :after pesudo elements have been used for the background image and gradient, there isn’t a way for CSS to add another pseudo element for the link, unfortunately.

If you really want it, you need to sacrifice the gradient.

    Let me know your thoughts!

  • I don’t exactly understand what exactly gradient is.

How do I do it by sacrificing gradient? Do I need to buy another plugin as well? I don’t understand why do I need to buy more plugins just to make the website run as intuitively as anyone expects. It is just common sense to expect blocks to be clickable.

If I sacrifice gradient, will it run correctly? If so, how can I do it?

Check this, left one has gradient, right ones don’t have gradient:https://app.screencast.com/38iuuKLf2ds0s

No, I’ve never asked you to buy more plugins. I just asked if you are willing to sacrifice the gradient.

If so, edit the Home post grid element, and select the post template block, toggle off the gradient option in Backgrounds panel:https://app.screencast.com/GDMF19wCpOxRC

This is the first step, once it’s done I’ll check if it’s done correctly and instruct you with next steps.

  • Okay, I have checked and all my Background -> Use Gradient options is off by default for the Newsroom site library for me. Looking forward for the next step.

That doesn’t sound right, can I see your site?

  • Here is the video of the edit page screen: https://youtu.be/pY59M8fLYNo
If you want further info, I can provide as well

  • I was talking about the first section on your homepage, do you only want the ones in your video to be clickable?

  • Not only that, I want to be able to click on “any” block featuring my blog title and a background image. (As seen in my video)

First section, second section, third section, every block with a title and a background relating to my post.

  • Yes, then have you done this? The element is the first section on the homepage, you can access it from appearance > elements > home post grid.

If so, edit the Home post grid element, and select the post template block, toggle off the gradient option in Backgrounds panel:https://app.screencast.com/GDMF19wCpOxRC
