Fonts not displaying

  • Hello,

I’ve installed two fonts from the GeneratePress Font Library and they are enabled. I then use them in Customize > Typography and the fonts don’t display. I’m in a staging site, but the main one has the same issue. I’ve disabled all plugins except GeneratePress Premium and GenerateBlocks.

I’m also using the Chrome extension Fontanello, and funny enough, right-clicking the text, it says it’s the correct font I selected, but the display is actually the fallback san-serif. I do have another website, and I tested this, and it works great there.

I wonder what’s causing the fonts not to display.

Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Hi there,

The font files are installed on main site, so it won’t work on this staging site.

To fix this, go to the font library, disable the font, save, re-enable it, save. It should generate new file paths for the fonts.

I also checked your production site, the font var(--gp-font--brandon-text) is working correctly.

Let me know if I miss anything!

  • Hi Ying,

I’ve done that as you told, but the fonts don’t display. I tried on both the main and staging sites.

I’ve created a new staging site and removed the Brandon font. I add the Philosopher font via Google API in Customize > Typography > Font Manager and it doesn’t display. I install that font in the Font Library of GeneratePress, then go to the Customizer, select it, and it doesn’t display.

(could you please remove the name of the main site in your previous reply? Thank you)

  • The font is showing correctly, am I missing anything?

    Let me know 🙂

  • I spotted the issue.

I was trying with the headings and they weren’t displaying. In the Customizer > Typography > Typography Manager under Content I had:
    – All Headings
    – H1
    – H2
    – and so on

Changing the font under “All Headings” didn’t have any effect. However, after deleting the “All Headings” style and keeping the individual heading styles, I was able to change their fonts.

Interestingly, the opposite is also true: if I delete all the individual heading styles (H1, H2, etc.) and keep only “All Headings”, the font change works.

So, there was a conflict between “All Headings” and the individual heading styles.

    Thanks!

  • I just noticed another issue 🙂

Why doesn’t the fonts display in the Gutenberg editor? I installed Philosopher and Quicksand and assigned them to headings and body respectively. In the Customizer I can clearly see them displaying. But when editing a page in the Gutenberg editor, they don’t display. However, if I select other fonts in the typography section of the block, they display, but not those I installed.

  • I checked your block editor, and the font is showing correctly:

And the All headings and individual headings should not have conflict, but if you assign different styles for them, they will override each other as it’s just CSS.

  • I’m using Brave browser and the fonts don’t display in the editor, but in Chrome they do. I guess I’ll be using Chrome from now on while working on this.

    Thanks!

  • You are welcome   🙂
