GB+GBP 2.0 (beta1) keyboard shortcuts & right click menu

  • Hello,

On a Mac, when I right click on a block in the list in the left column in the block editor, the options “Add before” and “Add after” are missing.
The corresponding keyboard shortcuts ⌥⌘T and ⌥⌘Y do not work either.

  • Hi there,

Is the issue on all blocks or just specific blocks ?

Reasoning, I work on a Mac and I do not see the issue except when there is a block restriction – for example the Pagination container inside a Query Block , those won’t show the add before / add after as there are limitations as to what can be inserted there.

    Let me know

  • It concerns all blocks, except the links in the standard navigation block.

After extensive research with disabling plugins, disabling child theme, new page, fresh WP install, etc., I finally found that my issue arises after I disable the standard WP paragraph block in the preferences menu in the right column in the editor.
Disabling other blocks does not cause this issue, as far as I have been able to test.

I always like to disable a number of standard WP blocks, such as Headings, Buttons, Columns and Group.
So my problem is easily prevented by not disabling Paragraph, but perhaps you still want to solve this issue. Or perhaps the default WP Paragraph block is required for GB.

Update: I just found out that the issue also occurs in GB 1.9.1 and GPP 1.7.1, but in these versions I never disabled the WP Paragraph block because it doesn’t have a GB Text block.

    Thanks!

  • Ah ok – first off it’s not related to GenerateBlocks or other plugins. It’s a core requirement to have the Paragraph block as that is the block WP inserts when you add a new block to the page. Without it they disable those options as it would just fail.

  • Yeah, that’s what I thought in the end. Only, if a block is required, it actualy shouldn’t be deactivated, but that’s not up to GB.

    Mystery solved, thanks a lot!

  • Glad to hear that !
