GenerateBlocks 2.0 Accordion does not support FAQ options

  • In GenerateBlocks 2.0, the Accordion option settings no longer include the FAQ structured data option. This is very troublesome. Do I have to wait for the next version to add it? !

  • Hi there,

this feature is under review. As we are:

    a) considering alternative and more flexible methods of building schema
    b) reviewing changes to google search guidelines where FAQ has been significantly downgraded:

    https://developers.google.com/search/blog/2023/08/howto-faq-changes

Going forward, FAQ (from FAQPage structured data) rich results will only be shown for well-known, authoritative government and health websites. For all other sites, this rich result will no longer be shown regularly. Sites may automatically be considered for this treatment depending on their eligibility.

    For now you can either:

    a. use a 1.x Accordion block
    b. add micordata schema to the block HTML using the GB Pro Advanced > Attrributes
Schema example can be seen here:

  • Thanks for your reply.

That being said, Google always says but never does!

As far as the current situation is concerned, the FAQPage structured data function as a kind of media search results still has a certain effect on the SEO of most websites, especially some corporate websites in special industries. Google will consider them more authoritative and choose to display their FAQPage structured data content in the search results.

In the short term, before Google completely abandons this function, I personally think that this function still has great value, especially when it helps pages improve SEO effects.
