Hi,
I know you all can’t really give a date yet but I’m in the planning stages for some rebuilds of client websites. It’s a bit difficult to know if I shouldn’t wait and just move forward on non-urgent builds or waiting 2-3 months might be worth it?
I have a few websites that are aging out, over 12 years old and clients are not excited about rebuilding a website. I was really stung on Genesis dropping most of their support for their theme (just security updates with the last one being 18 months I think) when they switched to FSE. It does sound like you all are thinking of backwards compatibility – but what Genesis did is why a lot of us switched to GB.
If you all could give some sort of picture of how much of a wait for GP Theme will be FSE?
Thanks,
Nancy -
Hi Nancy,
Our FSE feature (not WordPress FSE, but a GeneratePress version of it) should be released towards the end of Summer (as a rough estimate).
We want to make sure we get it right.
That being said, there’s nothing wrong with using the hybrid approach we currently offer, and we will continue to support the current way of building for a long time to come, as some will prefer it over FSE.
Let us know if you have any other questions 🙂

Hi Tom,
Thank you for the quick response. Very much appreciate the estimate on the timeline, it’s very helpful. Great about the support for the hybrid version.
Thank you!

No problem! 🙂

Hello,
is it still true that the FSE feature will be released towards the end of the summer?

Instead of deleting my posts, I would be much happier to receive a reply. Because I am planning a new website and would wait, if necessary, if it would be published really soon.

I’ve forwarded your question to our developer. He is on vacation and will reply when he gets back.
Thanks for your patience.

Hey Sonja,
Not sure what you mean about deleting posts – are you having posts that aren’t showing up?
We’ve pushed our FSE back to allow for the release of GB 2.0, as we felt that was a foundational piece to the puzzle. FSE will be full steam ahead once 2.0 is released, and the majority of it has already been built.
Not the end of summer, but still looking like this year.
Thanks!
