Is there a way to copy sections into the Library site from existing websites, or do all the sections have to be rebuilt?

So I upload the GP Cloud plugin to each site I want to save a section from to the Library site. Do I save it as a pattern in the site of origin, create a key, and move it to the Library site? Or just copy each section and move it to a mock page for storage on the Library site?

Does the GP Cloud enable copying of one section in a website to the Library site?

The information says that the Library site has to be a public site. Does that mean no PW protection, like what would be put on a dev site? If a dev site is not published, but not PW protected, would that work as a Library site?

I also find the name of the plugin confusing in that there is no “cloud”. From the name of the plugin, I was envisioning a GP Cloud similar to OneDrive (in the cloud) where sections could easily be saved and re-accessed, but there is no actual GP Cloud storage, correct?

Your response: Simply copy the section, then paste it into a new Local Pattern on the Library site. Assign it to a Collection and publish it. You don’t need a mock page or a key on the original site; the key is created on the Library site.

My question: Are you saying to create pages in the Library site and paste the copied sections into that page? For example, a page for similar sections like Hero sections, so different Hero section designs are stored on that page? And then save each one of the sections as a Pattern? A video to demonstrate your instructions would be helpful.

Your response: A dev site can be used as the Library site, even without published pages, as long as it is publicly accessible and not behind site-wide password protection or maintenance mode.

My question: I understand the need for No site-wide PW protection. Does the WP PW come into play at all?

Alvind said the sections do not need to be remade in the Library. I am seeking clarification on how to move a pattern from an existing website to the Library. Could one of you create a video to visually show this process. Doesn’t a video tutorial already exist to walk people through how to use GP Cloud? If not, please make one to help clarify what you are saying.

Do all the Patterns have to be Public or is it enough to just have one landing page for the Library site Public and make all the Patterns Private?

Can the site be PW protected with a WP PW, so all the patterns are not visible to the public?

So Patterns are not visible to the public even when published because they are published as a Pattern?

A WP PW log in is okay to have set up to protect access but a site-wide PW protection on the server end cannot be used, is that correct?

Also, could you please explain how to set up the Patterns in collections?

Do you have any examples of nomenclatures for Collections?
