Google fonts not in font dropdown menu

  • I’m having some trouble with Google fonts. For example, let’s say I have an H1 on my page. If I go into the block settings, and then down to the Typography section, when I click the dropdown menu for font family, all I see are the following:

    Default
    Inherit
    System Font
    Arial
    Helvetica
    Times New Roman
    Georgia

I don’t recall Google fonts not being there in the past. Even in the Customizer, if I go to Typography and then into the Typography Manager, I have to add fonts via the Font Manager before I can find them in the drop down menu for my content such as H1, H2, etc. And even if I add the fonts via the Font Manager, I still don’t see them as an option when I’m editing an actual page and try to select the font family in the headline block settings. I just want to be able to cycle through the various Google fonts to try different fonts on the fly.

  • Hi there,

GB removed Google fonts by default to ensure better performance.

If you add Google fonts via the GP font library, then the fonts should show in GB’s font list.

If this is not the case, can you provide an admin login so I can check the issue in the editor?

    Let me know 🙂

  • I haven’t tried to add any fonts via the GP font library yet, but I will look in to that.

What about Adobe Fonts? I am using the Adobe Fonts plugin to pull some fonts in, but I don’t see those fonts in the dropdown menu, either.

  • I don’t think it’s connected with GB, but you should be able to enter custom font name in GB’s typography > font family > 3 dots icon > enter custom value.

  • That worked. I didn’t realize that was an option. Thanks.

  • No Problem 🙂
