Home page design issues

  • Hello,

I am creating a new home page (called NEW DRAFT Home Page) and here are the issues I see:

    1. My home page draft has a grid with 66.66 and 33.33 ratio. However I can see that there is a huge margin on the right side for no reason. I cannot find why this is.

    2. My right side grid has thumbnails and titles. But the thumbnails are showing extremely small. I want them to be aligned with the text and proportionate.

Please see the attached image and screenshot for both. https://postimg.cc/5Yfss2Wg

    3. By default all the links are underlined. I do not want this. Is there a central setting where I can change this permanently? https://postimg.cc/CZTPf4vW

    Kindly help.

  • Hi there,

    1) The space on the right is the right sidebar area. To remove it, edit the page and, under the Layout panel in the block settings, set Sidebar Layout to No sidebars.

    2) This issue should be resolved once the sidebar is removed.

    3) Yes, to remove the underline from links, go to Customize > General and set Underline Links to Never.

  • Thanks a lot Alvind.

I want to achieve a design something like techradar.com.

Here if you see this page (section 1, 2 and 3) they are all fitting well. https://postimg.cc/gnyjGz5v

Whereas in my case (section 1, 2 and 3), the section 2 is extending all the way. I tried using negative margin for the section 1 title and excerpt but the results are not good. https://postimg.cc/PNmqTfvd

Could you suggest some changes here? The section 2 images and containers could be reduced in size to achieve this. But I dont know the way.

    Kindly help.

  • If you look at these you will understand more.

https://postimg.cc/S2Scwc93 –> The circled area is the gap. All elements should fit in one big space like above.

  • There isn’t an easy way to automatically make every section fit, unfortunately! You will need to write complex custom JavaScript to achieve that.

What we would suggest is to control the posts per page for each query block. For example, reduce posts for section 2, or add more posts to section 3.

  • OK Ying understood.

But can you please help me with the option to choose image size like Thumbnail, large etc? I cannot see that for section 2.

  • You need to set that in the Dynamic Tag option. See this screenshot for reference:

  • Thanks Alvind and Ying! You can close the ticket 🙂

  • You’re welcome!
