Hi. I use the Solo theme and in general it looks great everywhere. However, I recently noticed that the background photo on the homepage gets cut when viewing in super widescreen monitors. I’ve provided a screenshot.
I’ve currently set block alignment for that background photo to Full, but even if I use Wide, it still gets cut.
Is there a way to make the photos adjust in widescreen?
Thanks.

Hi there,
Have you tried setting the container width to 100vw?
It’s a bit challenging for me to check this since I don’t have a widescreen monitor to debug.

Hi Alvind. Thanks for responding. I tried 100vw and then viewed widescreen via screenfly.org and it still looks broken in a screen larger than 2k. I wonder if screenfly.org can help you debug? Thanks.

I’ll check there, but I’m not sure how reliable it is. I suspect the image resolution might also be a factor here.

Thanks. Any help would be much appreciated.

Side note— I reinstated the settings of the original Solo homepage image container. It sort of looks better now and only looks broken in an 8k screen. Let me know if this is an image issue. Thanks.

Yes, it seems the image gets cropped at 8K resolution. Making it perfect at 8K isn’t necessarily a requirement, as most users will likely be viewing the site on 4K or lower resolutions. 8K is still uncommon, so it may not be worth the extra effort unless you’re specifically targeting that audience.

Ok. So it looks like this can’t be helped then. Thanks Alvind.

No problem 🙂
Another thing to try is to use an 8K resolution image (approximately 7680px × 4320px) and see if it still gets cropped.

One last question Alvind. Is there a way to make it so it’s the bottom of the photo that gets cut when the screen adjusts and not the top?

Alvind
When you select the container with the background image, under the Background block settings sidebar, try setting the Size to
100% 100%
