Hook and Layout Elements not editable

  • Hi

I updated GP, GB and WP and noticed that I cannot edit or create Hook and Layout types Elements in Admin. Block-Hook -type elements behave normally.

When I try to create a new element I see only the title and right bar settings but the content box and other settings are missing. Same thing if I try to edit existing elements.

In Inspect there seem to be some generate_elements class elements in #poststuff-container but they are hidden with CSS.

    Everything else works ok.

I don’t have any ideas – never seen this before. Is there a setting somewhere to hide them or what could be going on?

    WP 6.6.1. / GB 1.9.1 / GB Pro 1.7.1 / GP 3.5.1 / GP Premium 2.5.0 / PHP 8.2.
Tested with Chrome and Firefox / Cleared Cache / Generatepress theme / All other plugins but GB disabled

  • I found this thread having the same issue: https://generate.support/topic/unable-to-edit-the-header-element/#post-129772

I also tried to create a new Admin user and I can indeed see the Hook, Layout and Header type Elements.

This narrows this down nicely, it could be ie. a user role-related issue.

  • Hi there,

Just wanted to confirm; while inside the Element editor, have you looked under the Screen Options at the top right to see if the “Display Rules” option is unchecked?

  • I did and it was. But now that I tried that again the content became visible. The weird thing is that I had not touched any settings. Could this be a UI hiccup with WordPress Admin?

Anyway, I can now see the Elements, so I will mark this resolved. Thank you.

  • It looks like we’ll need to investigate this further. Thanks for reporting!
