How to exclude posts from some categories in Query Loop?

  • I’m using Generate Blocks and in the Query Loop widget, is there a way to exclude posts from a specific category? I know you can add posts based on terms, but how about excluding it?

  • Hi there,

in the Query Loop settings, Add Parameter -> Exclude Taxonomies -> Category and choose the terms you want to exclude.

Hello, I’m having a similar issue. I’ve add the parameter for exclude taxonomy and entered the category term to be excluded but it’s still showing up in the list. I’ve triple checked that the category term is added to the post so I’m unsure what the issue is. I’ve cleared cache.

It does seem to work on the back end – I see the exclusion on the page editor, but it shows up on the front end.

  • Is the query block on a static page?

I just figured it out. I had the page set as the default list page for all posts under Settings > Reading so it wasn’t filtering. I removed that and now it’s working as intended. Thanks.

  • No Problem 🙂
