How to get this design

  • Hi,
I’d like to make a website with this mood. Very, very close.
What would be the best approach using generatepress ?
    Thanks,
    C.

  • Hello,

Your reference site has a really distinctive feel: warm, editorial luxury with full-bleed photography, generous whitespace, earthy tones, and refined serif typography.

For a starting point, I’d suggest browsing the GP Sites — a few starter sites lean into that editorial hospitality direction with hero sections, image-text pairings, and minimal navigation.

From there, the key design decisions to get that mood right:

    • Typography: A classic serif for headings (something like Playfair Display, Cormorant, or DM Serif Display via Google Fonts), paired with a clean sans-serif body font
    • Color palette: Off-whites, warm taupes, dark charcoal — no harsh blacks or bright whites
    • Imagery: The photography does the heavy lifting on a site like this; high-quality, full-bleed images are essential
    • Layout: Lots of breathing room — generous padding, asymmetric image/text sections, minimal nav

GeneratePress handles the global layout and typography via the Customizer, and GenerateBlocks builds out the individual section designs. That combination gives you full control over replicating this kind of refined, content-forward look.

  • Hi George,
Which GP-site would you use as a starter then ? 🙂

  • Hello,

I would start with Painter or Artist and customize further. Those are quite minimal with the right amount of spacing. Of course, I would adjust the color palette accordingly. For something more complete, I would give Supernova a try, as well.
