Hi, as mentioned, the Helpful Content Update hit my website hard. One issue I have is that WordPress automatically updates the date even when I just do very small changes on the site. For example changing a deadlink. Is it possible that the date only changes when I want?

there are a couple of plugins i found that allow you to lock / freeze the modified date:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/limit-modified-date/And i know that All In One SEO plugin also adds that feature, perhaps other SEO plugins do too.

Unfortunately I don’t have a snippet to do that.
The plugins make the most sense as they don’t just stop modified dates from updating , they add the handy UI for you to choose when to lock the date -

Both Plugins are outdated and I couldn’t find an alternative. So what should I do? Isn’t there really no way to do it with a code snippet?

I wouldn’t worry about the plugins being outdated as long as they work – WP has never change the way published and updated date work so perhaps the plugin author don’t see a point of updating it.

After I couldn’t find any alternativ I have installed the Plugin Change Last Modified Date now. Is there any conflict when I’m showing the published and modified date in my post?
