Image File Size Discrepancies

  • I’m currently going through the process of reducing the file size for the images on my site. However, there’s a discrepancy between the file size showing in my Media Library and when I “Inspect” the image on my live website.

The file size for the image in the compression app (squoosh.app) and my Media Library are spot on identical, but then showing larger on my live site. This is happening on every image.

Is there something I’m failing to do or doing wrong to cause this?

I’ve included an example of this below (example #1).

Additionally, on this one page I uploaded a photo that I had before, but changed it to a “jpg” and compressed it. However, on my live site it’s showing the old “png” version (example #2).

    Why is that?

    I appreciate any help, thanks!

  • Hi there,

We don’t have control over the media library, unfortunately.

The image file format change does seem weird, but this is not our expertise, I would recommend reaching out to your image compression plugin’s support for this.

  • Ok, thanks

  • No Problem 🙂
