Include child terms in a category content template

  • Is there a way to include posts with child terms in a post category archive content template?

  • Hi George,

Not sure what you mean, the parent category archive should include the child category articles by default.

    Can you explain some more?

  • If I create a category archive content template and set it to appear in a certain category archive, will the posts displayed also include posts that belong to the child terms of that category?

  • will the posts displayed also include posts that belong to the child terms of that category?

This is not related to the content template, content template is just there to style the posts.

What posts to be shown on the archive is decided by WP, if I remember correctly, the parent category archive should show the posts from its child categories.

Have you checked the default WP parent category archive? Does the child category posts show?

  • I just did a test, child posts seem to be included as well, I thought that wasn’t the case but it seems to be working as I want.

    Thanks Ying!

  • Glad to hear that 🙂
