Hi,
I think I have this issue https://generatepress.com/forums/topic/uncaught-error-messeage-after-saving-the-gp-premium-license-code/
Could you please check if my IP for the websites listed below is blocked?
Thank you in advance!

Hi there,
Just to confirm when you tried to activate the GP license, all your sites listed in the private info field returned critical errors. Is that right?
Let me know!

Hi, the license was working without issues but I noticed the problem few days ago when I was trying to actívate the license on a new website (the last one in the private field).
Let me know if you need anything else!

but I noticed the problem few days ago when I was trying to actívate the license on a new website
What is the problem? Is there a specific error code? What is the error message? What license? GP or GB?
Let me know 🙂 -

Hi, sorry for the confusion, I’m having issues with GP.
This is the error: 403 Forbidden. Your server is not able to communicate with generatepress.com in order to activate your license key as you can see here https://imgur.com/a/CXBs8Vb
I’ve implemented the solution that I found here https://docs.generatepress.com/article/license-key-activation-issues/#secondary-api that fixed the problem for the last website in the private information field, but then I noticed that I was having the same issue with all the other websites.
I should probably implement the same fix for all my websites, but I was wondering if there’s a block on those IP addresses because they were working without issues few days ago. That’s why I asked 🙂
Hope it’s clear now!

ut then I noticed that I was having the same issue with all the other websites.
You were trying to activate the license key for all those sites recently and got the same 403 error, is that the case?
If so, I’ll ask Tom to take a look.

Yes, Thank you!

Ok, I’ll forward it to Tom 🙂

gianorl
Thank you!
Also, I’d like to add that the same issue happened with the Perfmatters plugin, in fact their support found out the problem as you can see here https://imgur.com/a/9xVtSe4
I’ve updated the Private information area with the result of the debug.log
as explained here: https://docs.generatepress.com/article/license-key-activation-issues/#firewalls -
Hi there,
Just to confirm, all of the different IPs you’ve listed are having this issue?
My guess is that our host (Kinsta) is blocking them, but it’s strange that it would be happening to all of them, unless they’re all doing something that’s makes Kista think they’re bad.
This is what the secondary API is for, as we proxy the request to come from our own IP when that code is being used.
I can check with Kinsta about your IPs as well, just want to confirm that it’s multiple different ones I have to report to them.
Thanks!

Hi Tom, yes all the different IPs are having the same issue.
Thanks.
-
Are they all from the same server provider/host?
I’m wondering if there’s some kind of blanket rule being applied. This can happen when a host (Kinsta or anyone else) gets too much spam from a set of servers and applies blocks to protect their servers.
For now, the best course of action is likely to use the secondary API, as we have more fine-tuned control over the firewall there.

Hi Tom,
All websites are hosted on Namecheap, I’ve contacted them as well but they couldn’t find anything unusual.
Also, I have the same issue with Perfmatters and Novashare plugins 🙁
-
Are they on shared hosting? It’s possible that others on the same servers are doing bad things, causing the IP to get a bad reputation and for some hosts to block it.
-
gianorl
Yes, all are on shared hosting.
I’ll try to contact Namecheap again.

Let us know how it goes 🙂
