Sorry if this is a feature request more than an issue
I would like to ask if its possible to have the elements section available even when the active theme is not GP
The reasoning is – when I upgrade sites to GP – often I create on a demo site and than transfer across – I can export JSON files for most of GP but not elements – and so I need to create those from scratch
I have to take the site offline to create those elements – which takes time – not much, but time
If I could pre-create them – even if there is a notice saying these cannot work until GP is selected theme – that would vastly improve the speed I can updates site. Exporting and importing elements would also be fab! But just having access to elements early woudl make a huge difference
Will it ever be possible?

It’s not possible, unfortunately!
GP Premium plugin only works with GP theme.

Thanks Ying – as I expected – is there anyway that elements can be imported/exported at all ? In case I am missing something?

Hi there,
At the moment, Elements can’t be imported or exported separately. They’re stored in the database and tied to the GP theme, so there isn’t a built-in import/export option.
The only way right now is to use a full site migration or a database export/import if you want to move them between sites.
I’ll also make a feature request so the team can consider adding import/export support for Elements in future updates.

Thank you Chaz – a feature request would be perfect – thank you – as that would certainly save a heap of time!
And yes whilst if its a site from scratch a full migration works – when you are doing a face lift shall we say its not quite as straight forward

if its aface lift for my clients that is simpler as GP already in use and I can pre-create the elements – but when taking over a new client or face lift a really old website (my pre GP era!!!) then that is when its needed
