Issue with pages showing recent posts instead of page content

  • I’m experiencing an issue on my staging site where certain pages are displaying recent posts instead of their intended content. Specifically, when I create or edit a page, I can see and edit the content in the block editor, but once I save and view the page on the front-end, it only displays recent posts, almost like an archive template.

I’ve tried the below troubleshooting steps:

    • Verifying the reading settings to ensure the page is not set as the “Posts page.”
    • Checking that the correct “Default Template” is assigned to the page.
    • Disabling all GeneratePress Elements to rule out any overriding content.
    • Clearing all caches, including browser, server, and caching plugin caches.

Unfortunately, the issue persists. For example, the page at this link is showing recent posts instead of its intended content: https://sightline24.wpenginepowered.com/funding-financial/.

Could you please help me identify what might be causing the issue? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi there,

The page you linked has been set to blog, it’s likely related to some templates/custom functions in your child theme.

As when I switch to the parent theme, the issue is gone.

  • Thanks for looking into this, Ying. I’ll take a look at the functions.php file for conflicts.

  • You are welcome   🙂

I would also suggest checking template files in your child theme as well, as that static page seemed to be using the blog’s tempalte.

  • I got the issue resolved, thank you!

  • No Problem 🙂
