Hello! On our home page at thedesk.net, we have a “Top Story” module, and I just added a new container with a headline that says “Top Story.” The word “Top Story” is linked to the feature post, but I can’t figure out how to make the entire thing a link to the featured post (the blue highlight, which is set as a semi-transparent background on the container level, is not a hyperlink — I would like to make it one).
What’s the best way to do this?
You can see how we coded this here: https://i.imgur.com/Nudl1Jc.png

Hi there,
Do you have GB pro? Container link is a GB Pro feature.
Let me know 🙂

I don’t think we do. I know we paid for GeneratePress, and we’ve been able to do a lot through it. We don’t pay for GenerateBlocks Pro (bit out of our price range for just a few features), and I know support has offered workarounds for those who don’t.

Thank you! That did the trick. You gusy are the best.

You are welcome 🙂

I cannot figure out where to add a container link now that GenerateBlocks has changed to its new version. I do pay for the pro version. Can you point me to the correct location? The instructional link provided in another thread goes to a broken link. Thanks.

Check this doc for how to add a container link with GB V2 block:https://learn.generatepress.com/blocks/block-guide/add-container-links/#building-our-container-with-link

Wow that’s a lot more complicated than it used to be. Used to be able to do it by the basic GUI. I’ll give it a try.

Okay, that worked. However, how do I make the button itself invisible? When making it hidden, it causes the entire container to no longer be a link. I want the full container to be a link but the button to be invisible.
-
What button? Can I see it on your site?
-
aaronmckeon
No problem. The instructions you sent said to create a button and then apply styling to expand its clickable area over the entire block.

I’m not seeing the global style being created. Did you clear cache after the changes are made?
-

The global style is created and is applied to the grid block, with the button nested inside the grid block. It successfully turns the entire container into a link but the button is still visible. When trying to apply a
display: none;to the button the container is no longer linked. When trying to apply adisplay: hidden;to the button, it remains visible. -

Correction: Now the container isn’t linked at all, and I’m not sure why. The global style is setup as in the documentation. I’ve tried applying the style to the Loop Item block as well as the Grid block. Neither works. I would give you admin details but it does not allow me to add private information to this thread.
