Missing Search Modal in Menu using new Navigation Block

  • Even though the “Enable navigation search modal” option is activated in the Customizer, I’ve noticed the search icon to trigger the modal does not appear in the nav menu when using the new “Navigation Block”

I’m not seeing any options with any of the sub blocks inside the Navigation block either or am I missing it?

It seems really odd this wouldn’t exist so my hunch is I’m overlooking something.

  • Hi there,

You can add a button block with an icon, then go to the Advanced panel > HTML Attributes.

Add data-gpmodal-trigger and gp-search, this can make the button trigger the search modal.

  • Many thanks but is this a temp fix until the production version is launched? It seems like a big step back to have to manually insert the search function this way.

  • I don’t think it’s a temp fix, it’s the proper way to add the search modal in custom header 🙂

  • Thanks for confirming, I have to say this is another component that adds time to building sites and makes it more difficult for clients to manage directly.

  • No problem!
