Mobile container width resets desktop width

  • Hi all. I’m here to report a bug, or at least I think it’s a bug.

The problem is that if you set a container width in Desktop mode to something less than 100%, then go into Mobile preview mode and set the container width there to 100%, upon returning to Desktop preview mode you will see that the container width has also been set at 100%. It should have stayed at the previous, less than 100% setting.

The workaround is to set the mobile width first, then go back to desktop and set it there. But anytime you go into mobile view on that container, it will reset the desktop width to equal the mobile width.

I am using both GeneratePress Premium and GenerateBlocks Premium.

  • Hi there,

I just tested, not seeing this issue.

Which version of GB and GB Pro are you using?

    Let me know 🙂

  • Latest on everything… GP 3.3.0, GP Premium 2.3.1, GB 1.7.3, and GB Pro 1.5.2. I tested it with that theme plus the three plugins, everything else off. It’s easy to reproduce, on my system anyway. Put a new container on a page, click the “inner block” icon in the toolbar, then set the widths on the inner block.

  • Hum, I can’t replicate the issue.

Can you provide an admin login for us to check and please keep all other plugins deactivated?

    Let me know 🙂

  • I tested on your site and didn’t see this issue either, let me know if I miss anything.

  • Hi there,

in the Block Settings sidebar, there are 3 responsive icons at the very, choose those instead to change the device preview. Do they work correctly ?

  • Yes, it works when you use those icons. I guess I will need to change my habits and use those instead. It would be nice if it worked using the native WP feature, though. We can close this unless you have more you want to experiment with.

  • Its the first time i have seen this.

But i will do some testing to make sure.
Could we keep the staging site login and the video for now ?

    Thanks for reporting the issue.

  • I’ll keep the account active for now, but we’re going to need to coordinate the time periods where I can disable the plugins as that is our main development site. Not sure what timezones you guys cover, but you can pretty much disable everything at about 2PM Central (CDT -0500) and have it at your disposal until about 10PM Central.

  • OK, we have found the issue, and we can confirm it is a bug and we are working on it and it should be fixed in the next release. So thanks for the assist, and we won’t need the staging access anymore.

  • Sounds good. Thanks. Closing.

  • Thank you for reporting!
