I just updated my GeneratePress Theme, and after doing so my mobile slide-out menu isn’t functioning properly. It will open when you click on the hamburger icon, however, if you then try to click on any of the menu items the slide-out menu immediately closes. I can’t figure out how to fix this. And as I stated, it seems that the theme update was the cause. I would appreciate it if you could help me resolve this issue. My website URL is provided in the Private Info box. Thanks!

Hi there,
Would it be possible for you to provide temporary admin login access for the staging site? There have been similar reports from other users, and since you have a staging site, it would be perfect to do some troubleshooting.

Hello Alvind,
Thanks for the response. I see that others are having the same issue as you pointed out.
I’ve gone ahead and provided access to the staging website so that you can take a look and hopefully find out what the issue is as soon as possible. Here in the USA we are right in the middle of one of our biggest e-commerce holiday shopping weekends (Labor Day weekend). I really need to get this sorted out today as potential customers who access the site from their mobile devices will not be able to shop effectively, and I will no doubt lose many sales due to this. If there is any way to resolve the issue this morning, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much for your help and the rest of the GeneratePress team!

…also, feel free to update both the GP Premium Plugin and the GeneratePress Theme during your troubleshooting. Right now, the off-canvas (mobile) menu still works on the staging site because I have yet to update the GeneratePress Theme as mentioned in my original post. I’m pretty sure it was the Theme update and not the GP Premium plugin update that caused the issue but I’ll let you figure out how you want to proceed with that.
I figured that by not updating them it will give you better insight into how things look while it still works properly, and then after you update them, which causes the issue described. Let me know if you have any other questions as you work through the problem. Thanks again.

Hello GeneratePress Team,
Can someone please help me out with this mobile menu issue? This is no small problem for my website and business… and during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year. All customers who visit my site through mobile are surely lost sales due to this failure in functionality.
I had expected that this would be looked at by now given how the theme update has impacted my site — and the fact that others have also reported the same issue.
I was asked to share access to my staging site, and I did that about 12 hours ago and I’ve yet to get any response or feedback.
Could someone please at least provide a status update, or let me know what’s going on. Last I checked, no one from GeneratePress has even logged into my site to work on the problem that arose from updating the GeneratePress theme.
Thanks for your understanding.
Kind regards,

We’re currently troubleshooting the issue. In the meantime, we advise you to roll back to the previous version while we look into this.

Hi Alvind,
Thanks for getting back to me on this. What’s the best/safest way to rollback the GP theme update? I’ve only ever rolled back plugin updates so I want to make sure I do this in a way that won’t break things.
Thanks

You can download the previous version via this link: https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/generatepress.3.4.0.zip
Then, install it as usual. It will replace the currently installed theme.
Just make sure to take a full site backup before attempting anything.

Thanks Alvind. Will do.
Do you happen to have a timeframe for when the off-canvas menu issue will be fixed in the latest update? I’m just wondering if it’s a matter of a couple of days or if you think it could take weeks.
Also, I’m sure that way more people are having that issue but probably don’t even know it. I came across it on accident, but I would have never even known had I not checked my mobile site for a specific reason. So I’m sure you’ll be getting more reports of that problem as people come across it.
Thanks again.

Hi there,
3.5.1 is scheduled for Tuesday (Sept 3) and will include a fix for this.
For now, there are two options:
1. Switch your “Customize > Navigation Dropdown” option to “Hover” until the fix it out.
2. If you’re comfortable, replace thewp-content/themes/generatepress/assets/js/dropdown-click.min.js
file with this one: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/tomusborne/generatepress/release/3.5.1/assets/js/dropdown-click.min.jsSorry for the inconvenience! It would be great to know if the updated file fixes the issue for you (only if you’re comfortable replacing it).
Thanks!

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the update and instruction. I appreciate it.
I don’t think I’m comfortable enough to replace the file that you shared, so I’ll wait for the update tomorrow. In the meantime, I’ve gone ahead and changed the navigation setting to ’hover’, as a temporary fix until the update.
Thanks again,
Matt -
