I’m about to start a new website and want to use one of the non-ecommerce starter sites. Am I still able to add the cart and profile icons in the main navigation menu, and if so, then how do I configure this?

Hi there,
You can activate the cart at customizer > layout > woocommerce, make sure the Woocommerce module is activated at Appearance > GeneratePress.
To add an account icon, you need to create a block element – hook, set the hook name to menu_bar_item and set the location to the entire site, then you can use a button block to add the icon and link to the account page.
