Not sure how to best create similar content page to this:

  • Hi,

I’d like to recreate similar to the ‘Current Stock’ page here:

    https://www.romansinternational.com/current-stock/

I was thinking I would need to use either a block element content template or a static page with a query loop but really don’t have a firm idea as I haven’t done this before with GeneratePress / GenerateBlocks, was hoping to get a steer on how best to do it.

Was wondering if something like https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-content-template/ is still the most current and recommended way to so this seeing as a query loop would do similar (not sure on styling the latter option)?

One thing I’d really like to add is the ability to change view from list to tiles, using the selector buttons (as in the screenshots attached).

Thanks for any tips on how best to do this 🙂

  • Hi there,

how is the content created ? Are they a custom post type ?

  • Hi David,

I would imagine I would create the individual car listings as posts?

    Thanks

  • Will all your post be about cars ? And therefore all displayed in this same way ?

  • Yes indeed they will be, all the same display and structure.

  • OK, i can’t offer a solution for changing the structure from list to grid, that isn’t possible today.

    1. in Customizer > Layout > blog you can set the number of columns you wan to display.
    2. Install the GenerateBlocks plugin from the WordPress Repository.
    3. then in Dashboard > Appearance > Elements create a new Block element Content Template:

    https://docs.generatepress.com/article/block-element-content-template/

Here you can visually design your post card.
Note there are some premade templates you choose to get a quick start.

3.1 Set the Element Display Rules to Blog and if need be All Archives, the latter will cover category, tag and author archives.
