Off-Canvas Menu: “breadcumb”

  • johnottomagee

    Hello Support-Team at GP !

    Please go to my site:
    https://understand-culture.com/

    Click on the menu top-right.
Select: Countries … United States … Communication.
Then click on the menu again.
    See breadcrumb-path in red.

    Now try the same with:
    Countries … Germany … Communication.
    No breadcrumb-path in red.

Do the same tests with Contrast.
    Also no breadcrumb-path in red.

    Thanks.

    John

  • Hi there,

Could you please provide more context about the issue? I’ve tried following the steps you outlined above to identify any issues, but it appears that there is a popup prompting me to log in or gain access.

  • johnottomagee

    Hello Alvind,

What context info do you need?

As a guest you have access to the topic Persuasion.
That should be enough to see the problem based on
    the examples I stated above.

    John

  • Sorry I don’t understand what you are referring to either.

    Click on the menu top-right.
Select: Countries … United States … Communication.
Then click on the menu again.
    See breadcrumb-path in red.

This is what I see when following the steps: https://www.screencast.com/t/tGTMhqEH

Also keep in mind that GP does not have a breadcrumbs feature built-in.

    Hi Leo,

Ignore the need to log in.
It’s not necessary to see what I mean.

    Go to the menu top-right.
Choose “Countries”, then “United States”, then “Persuasion.”

    Now click on the menu.
Then again “Countries”, “United States”, then “Persuasion.”
See “United States” in red, and “Persuasion” in red.
That’s what I mean with breadcrumbs.
The user can see where they currently.

    Good. I like that functionality.
And see that it works with “About”, “Access”, and “Contact.”

However, it does not work with any topics
under “Countries … Germany” or with any
    topics under “Contrasts.”

If you need full access to the site,
please provide me with a working email
    address.

    Thanks !

    John

  • Ignore the need to log in.
It’s not necessary to see what I mean.

I’m not sure why that is not necessary as we cannot see the issue and access the menu again without getting pass the popup.

Can you disable all plugins except GP Premium so we can take a cleaner look first?

    Now click on the menu.
Then again “Countries”, “United States”, then “Persuasion.”
See “United States” in red, and “Persuasion” in red.
That’s what I mean with breadcrumbs.
The user can see where they currently.

This is the default behaviour for current menu items and there isn’t a way to turn it off. We have never had any other reports on this either.

    Hi Leo,

There must be some kind of misunderstanding.

Or UC functions differently on my Mac with Chrome and Safari
than it does on your computer.

To see the inconsistency in the navigation
you do not need to be logged in.

    Or am I wrong?

Please be patient with me as I ask you again
to do what I have already asked:

Menu … Countries … United States … Persuasion.
Even though you can read the content under Persuasion,
the inconsistency is about the navigation/menu.

    Ok, you’re in Countries/UnitedStates/Persuasion.
Now click on the menu again.
    You see Countries highlighted.
Click on it. You see United States highlighted.
    And you see Persuasion highlighted.

That’s what I mean by breadcrumbs.
The user knows where he/she is when they
    go back to the menu.

    Again, I find that helpful.
However, it only works with Countries-Unitedstates,
and not with Countries-Germany or with any combination
    under Contrasts.

    John

P.S. Anytime you try to access content without
having logged in, and you get the pop-up, you
can still get back to the site and to the menu
    simply by hitting your back-button.

  • I understand your question – you are talking about the current menu color.

I’ve done what you’ve asked but it’s simply not working for me (and Alvind).

Can you please do what I’ve asked here? Please follow our instructions when we are trying to help.

Can you disable all plugins except GP Premium so we can take a cleaner look first?

If that’s not possible in this live site then please start a staging site so we can do some debugging.

Again, this is unlikely to be a theme issue if it only happens to a specific menu item. If it’s a bug on our end then the same behavior would happen to every menu item.

    Thanks!

  • johnottomagee

    Hi Leo,

I apologize if I came across impatient
with you and Alvind. I was impatient.

I was not sure if you had understood
    the problem.

Ok, let me disable all plugins. However,
I’ll first have to see the affect on the
    site since it is live.

    Thanks.

    John

  • johnottomagee

    Disabling all of the plugins
messes up the site too much.

Let me try to figure out how
    to create a staging site.

    Thanks.

    John

  • Sure, let us know.

  • Hello Support !

This topic was resolved way back.

I have tried to mark it as resolved,
    but unsuccessfully.

Please do so for me. Thanks.

    John

  • Glad to hear that! 🙂
